COM TRUISE - “OPEN”

It is definitely hard to refrain from singing RCRD LBL’s praises when they are able to get their hands on free MP3’s that can’t be found elsewhere. Seth Haley, the man behind the intergalactic downtempo machine that is Com Truise, can be notoriously tight-fisted with his jams sometimes. I really don’t blame him, given the quality of the tunes, along with the unique artwork and backstory that often accompanies each one of them. Well, if you follow Ghostly International or anything of the retro futuristic sort, you’ll already be in the know about Truise’s upcoming July release In Decay. Via Ghostly, of course, this collection of previously unreleased pre-Cyanide Sisters EP recordings is bound to astound, especially those of you who show a latent tendency toward the “mid-fi synth-wave, slow-motion funk”. The appropriately titled opener track, “Open”, is a familiar vibe: computer programs, thin laser-like sheets of vintage synth, bombastic drums stabs, and sassy basslines flanged into infinity. Caught between the past and the future, which option will our hero choose? To delve into the past, altering space and time itself, or to leap far into the unknown future? Only you, dear listener, can make that decision, so do tha right thing, and thank your lucky stars for sites like RCRD LBL that can get their hands on nice things like this phenomenal taste of Com Truise’s upcoming In Decay, out on July 27th, 2012.
