About eight months ago, cryptic Russian chillwaver Dadaisme provisioned this increasingly warped rework of the inarguable single from Dreams West’s self-titled debut. At first blush, there was no doubt that “Super Gran Turismo” was the standout jam on the original release, and the only complaint we had was that it was too short. While that is unfortunately typical of a largely sample-based retro lo-fi synthwave tune, Dadaisme apparently silently swooped in to the rescue, doubling the track’s length and somehow muddling the quality of the audio even further. Let’s not mince words: the decayed VHS-wave perpetuated by acts such as 18 Carat Affair, Dreams West, and Vektroid is an acquired taste, one that consistently serves to inspire and excite us. Do tha right thing, and grab a free download of Dadaisme’s solid improvement on the original vintage tapedeck disaster that is Dreams West’s “Super Gran Turismo”, complete with the warped electronics, the digital malfunctions, and the silky R&B sampling.
