Ohio electronic artist Freeze-Tag elected to cover Little Dragon’s “Twice” today to the apparent applause of a large sect of internet hipsters and art appreciators. Forgoing the sparse and morose solo piano and signature female vocals of the original work, the cover (that will soon be featured on his Eskimo EP)opts for a more digital quasi-R&B approach. Smooth and suave male vocals echo along, sounding out sonorously at the beginning of the jam before the icey synth leads, the melancholy basslines, and the hand claps start in. This particularly silky rendition of Little Dragon’s “Twice” whirls about in the dead space between chilled affect and heart-on-the-sleeve crooning, all to the tune of a vastly improved downtempo vibe and a soulful vocalist. Do tha right thing, and grab a free MP3 download of Freeze-Tag’s astral take on Little Dragon’s “Twice” below, and check out the remainder of this intrepid artist’s work, especially the upcoming Eskimo EP, if you like what you hear.
