MAXY BILLS - “SEEDING SUNS”
One of my favorite music e-magazines, LYFSTYL, has been on a real hot streak lately, especially with their recently released From LYFSTYL With Love mix. Featuring a short collection of soft, warm, smoove beats, the playlist boasts more than a few musical successes. One such standout is “Seeding Suns”, by Perth, Australia’s Maxy Bills. At the tune’s foundation is a sparse, trip-hopping ambience not unlike what you might get out of a collaboration between Caves (oh, sorry. “c a v e s”.) and Keep Shelly in Athens. The sloppy beat propels forward at a leisurely pace, interspersed throughout with syrupy sweet mid-fi synthesizing of varying textures. No vocals dare grace this track, and that’s no harm, no foul. I fear even the most sensual of pitch-shifted sistas might disturb the tranquility throughout Maxy Bills’ “Seeding Suns”. Do tha right thing, and check out the album that features the track, the Dust Moats EP on Maxy Bills’ Bandcamp. Two years in the making, and only $7 to boot, the man’s self-described “future cosmic funky glooping intergalactic resonance” may just be something in which we should all invest. Also, enjoy the aforementioned jam after the bump, along with a bonus track also featured on LYFSTYL’s most recent sleeper hit mixtape.
