CHRIS D’EON - “TRANSPARENCY PT II”
I personally have the beloved LYFSTYL to thank for putting this banger on the radar. Every hipster’s favorite Canadian commie chillwaver Chris D’eon released a taste of his upcoming full-length due out on Tuesday, June 5th. “Transparency Pt II” partially casts aside the subtle Italo-disco and deep house vibes prevalent in previous works like Æon and Palinopsia, opting instead for a smoother, more “hot AC” bent on experimental electronic music, not unlike a humbler Chromeo or a more experimental Peter Gabriel. Tinny guitar pickage lays the foundation in this track, warmed accordingly by the minstrel’s hoarsely gentle vocalizing. A hi-hat heavy drum machine beat keeps the time, but “Transparency Pt II” really starts to pick up about halfway through when the chopped and screwed vocal samples flood in along with an electric organ solo that is truly to die for. Do tha right thing and add Chris D’eon’s “Transparency Pt II” to your collection, and let’s hope together that this week’s upcoming LP via Hippos in Tanks is both as free and as excellent as I seem to recall Æon was.
